You can go into a home decorating store, the same place you buy your laundry baskets, towels, and bathroom toothbrush holder, and buy poker chip sets and poker tables. Poker is now becoming a common activity for family gatherings or nights in with friends. A game of cards makes for a nice evening with friends. All this goes to show how very popular poker has become in the past few years. Poker chip sets abound in households across North America as would be poker champs get together with their friends and play Texas Hold ‘Em or other card games. After all, poker chip sets make it much easier to keep track of the money, and much easier to gamble with than real coins. Plus, if you get one of the better, smoother plastic poker chip sets, you can do that neat “shuffling the chips together with one hand trick” that professional players do while they are fidgeting. Poker chip sets are designed to make it easier to gamble in poker – they come in nice, neat boxes with spots for cards and rows of multicolored chips. Of course, the quality level in different poker chip sets is different – not all plastic is created equal. The “cheaper” poker chip sets with the less durable and less pleasant chips are gradually fading out of use as people buy more professional looking sets and the prices of the better chips drop. Also, poker chip sets are becoming more common as gifts – after all, a poker chip set can make a pretty good gift for the guy who is impossible to buy for on your list. It’s an invitation to fun, as well as an invitation to ask you over to play some poker. Poker chip sets, as well as poker based websites and books, are a sign of the rising popularity of poker. This game is the latest “in” hobby and is surprisingly acceptable perhaps because poker, unlike computer games, is fairly social, and only really requires a deck of cards and one of the ubiquitous poker chip sets. There is no reading or learning in advance necessary, you can learn as you go along. Playing poker at home is much more enjoyable than going to the casino and having to wait in a queue for over an hour to get a seat at a poker table for the privilege of losing your money. |
